Exclusively Offering Pastoral Care.

To assist families, we offer the services of Rabbi Michael Strasberg, our Director of Pastoral Counseling. The Rabbi is available to provide you with advice, offer counseling, answer your questions about Jewish funeral traditions, and provide overall support and guidance through the stress and grief related to a death. Rabbi Strasberg has years of experience in helping others as a pulpit Rabbi before coming to Sinai Chapels. We are pleased to be the only funeral home in the area that provides this type of service to our families.

Honoring the Jewish Traditions.

Jewish funeral practices have their roots in the deepest history of the culture. But aside from such acts of washing the dead, including soil from Israel in the casket, and sitting Shiva, the main tradition is really one of attitude and outlook. The traditional aspect of a Jewish funeral lies in the respect we bring to the observances and rituals of our people, which date back thousands of years.

From the time of a death, through the preparation of the body, the prayers, and the burial, we endeavor to reflect on the goodness of life instead of mourning a death. In the time between the death and the burial, the time of Aninut, the distinctive traditions of Jewish life urge us to appreciate and celebrate life.

In accordance with longstanding Jewish tradition and belief, we at Sinai Chapels dedicate ourselves to making every funeral a celebration of life, and a confirmation that we understand the gifts given to us in the life we commemorate.
